Evans transformation - Chapter 4

He was an odd man, ancient looking and I could swear he was almost wearing a bathrobe or something like it. I shrugged it off and decided to just pay him and get out of there. Five dollars was a fair price, so I pulled out my wallet, handed him a five, and took the book.

"Remember," he said as I turned to leave, "it's all about the intent, channel it, and good luck."

His words stuck with me, but I couldn't make heads or tails of them. I shrugged it off and started walking home, and I could not stop thinking about it. What did he mean by intent and channeling it? I figured I had nothing to lose and decided to give it a try. Once I got home, I went straight to my room, and I took the spell book out of my bag. I flipped through the crinkled pages until I found the incantation I had seen earlier. I was not sure what to do, but I gave it a shot.

I closed my eyes, and repeated the words, focusing on my want for a girlfriend. I repeated the incantation, putting all of my energy into the words. I mean, why not, right? I had nothing to lose, except maybe five bucks. I focused on the words, enunciating each one clearly, projecting my voice. The incantation rolled off my tongue, and I could feel the energy rippling through me.
