Wicked chance - Chapter 3

He felt overwhelmed as he quickly fled the market and made his way back to his lonely and quiet apartment. His heart was pounding with the thrill of something mysterious and unknown, and the scroll seemed to breathe with life in his grasp. He couldn't help but feel that there was a presence dwelling within it, like a dormant seed waiting to take root.

He set the scroll on the table by the window, the sun casting a long rectangle of light onto its ancient surface. Its beauty seemed to dance as the shadows from the branches tapped on the windowsill played upon it. He spent the rest of the day wondering when it would be the right time to unravel the scroll's secrets.

He felt like a child on Christmas Eve, trembling with anticipation, and with every minute that ticked by the tension grew thicker and thicker. He had no inkling of what to expect; it seemed as if he was standing on the precipice of a vast abyss, staring into the darkness with a mixture of awe and dread. It was impossible to shake the unsettling notion that this old scroll could very well change his life in unforeseen ways.
